The CPESN Quality and Performance Committee, which is a group of CPESN Luminaries focused on quality aspects of the Clinical Integrated Network (CPESN), has updated the Quality Assurance Standards as previously communicated. One aspect has already been implemented (expanding the focus of Quality Based Metrics to not only focus on 10 eCare plans per quarter) and now the Opioid Stewardship Plan is being implemented. The training video describes: 1) Understand the focus on all CPESN Pharmacies having an Opioid Stewardship Plan in place at the pharmacy; 2) Review the Opioid Stewardship Plan Requirement; 3) Implement an Opioid Stewardship Plan at the pharmacy

Below is the text directly from the CPESN Quality Assurance Standard (Click HERE) regarding Opioid Stewardship Plan

  • Pharmacy shall have a documented and active Opioid Stewardship Plan in place utilizing the CPESN Opioid Stewardship Plan Example/Template or equivalent. *
    • Pharmacy must submit an opioid waiver to CPESN USA if the pharmacy does not dispense opioid prescriptions.

Action Step: Create and implement Opioid Stewardship Plan based on the Opioid Template provided by CPESN USA or create own while meeting the core strategies.
